Jackson: Cool in General & On Bicycling

...just wrapped up work in Jackson, was mostly all work, 18 hours total, but the little I've seen of the actual city has definitely exceeded my expectations. Folks at Cups Cafe in Fondren District (district a bit like Austin's Congress St. District, except only about 4-5 blocks total) have let me know that their bike community is coherent & active, which I could see; many miles of bike route on major route of Old Canton Road downtown/Fondren and Barnett Reservoir had an extensive bike route network around it, including lanes on both sides of a mile-long bridge going over the reservoir. Excellent place (similar in size) from which Shreveport could learn I think.
